The timer will start the fan and CH pump when my Potterton Kingfisher Mf RS100 is cold, but the boiler will not ignite. Switching the boiler off and on again fires it up, and it then continues to run properly all day. Replacing the air-pressure switch has made no difference. what should I do next?

Call Heat team Potterton's own engineers 0843 636 7975 ...or a Gas Safe Register engineer you can go to the Gas Safe Website to find one in your area.

I second Remolc comments, as only gas safe registered engineer should work on/repair gas appliances. if you are gas safe registered you might find pottertons Tech line helpful too.

All the best.

Thanks. I called Potterton and they told me they no longer send engineers to service Kingfisher boilers. They passed me to an adviser who suggested replacing the air-pressure switch. Three engineers have said they are not interested, but another is coming tomorrow. Fingers are crossed...

A persistent and skilled local engineer, Darren from EPG Specialists, Clapham, eventually traced the fault to the ECB by eliminating everything else. He fitted a new board, and the boiler is working fine: I hope it's good for a few more years. Thanks to him, and to you for enquiring.

Glad to see you are now sorted Seamuss - a good message for for all that these gas appliances should only be repaired/serviced by corectly qualified and registered engineers. Your safety is paramount.

You must excuse us gas engineers for not stating on these forums what we think/suspect may be the problem (like the pcb) as it could encourage the public to break the law and try to repair gas appliances themselves. Trust us - this is not a ruse to keep us in work.

Glad you found a good 'local' guy and hopefully you will keep him on board and recommend him.

Have a warm and safe Winter. Thanks for updating.

John
