Domestic appliance repair jobs: trader tips
In addition to the pricing and completion time information, the recommended appliance repair technicians who participated in our survey also shared some helpful advice.
- We asked traders to quote for a standard, mid-range Best Buy appliance. Of course, the price of parts will vary for different makes and models of appliance.
- Domestic appliance repairers usually charge a call-out fee, as well as an hourly rate. Make sure that you ask about call-out charges up front so there are no nasty surprises later.
- Most traders can offer you a choice between genuine parts (manufacturer approved) or ‘pattern’ parts (generic parts). Genuine parts can be twice the price.
- Make sure new parts come with a warranty.
