Fantastic meal (set lunch menu) for less than £11 pp, with a good wine in a very modern bar & restaurant. We sat outside on a glorious sunny day and the place was very busy, mainly with business lunches. Highly recommended as the food and service were excellent.

We live around the corner and are extremely lucky to have the Waggon as our local. The food is top restaurant quality with the Chef (Steve) having an impressive professional background in some swanky restaurants and hotels. Excellent value.

My wife and I have dined here regularly for some years now and have never been disappointed. The owner, Amie, who runs the business with her partner, Angus, is also the head chef, and produces a varied menu to suit all tastes and appetites, with daily changes on the "specials" board. What never varies is the quality of the food and its presentation. The staff, as one would expect in any good establishment, are attentive and courteous. What sets them apart here is their natural friendliness - your welcome will be genuine. The beautiful, distinctive building dates back to before the beginning of the 18th century and is steeped in history, with witchcraft connections and even murder, trial and hanging all having taken place on the premises (don't worry - these were over 300 years ago). At a height of nearly 1200 feet it has views looking down over Oldham and Manchester, but also far beyond to West Lancashire, Cheshire, Snowdonia and even to Shropshire - Bredon Hill often being visible. It has a beer garden, serves well looked-after real ale, and the original oak-beamed bar, which serves as an ante-room to the restaurant, has the original stone floors and an inscription regarding the aforementioned murder on 17th August 1704. At home I have a cookery book by Nigel Slater entitled "Real Food". If you can't do it yourself then come here for it! There are sophisticated dishes on the menu, of course, but the hand-cut chips are to die for!

We have been having meals here for a few years & found it good value with a choice of several meals at two for ten pounds. Portion size & quality normally good, just had a roast beef dinner once which was poor . Staff friendly & good service

I have been using this restaurant for years, both for family events and meals for two. The restaurant is off the beaten track on a hill overlooking the colne valley with marvellous views. Most of the food is prepared on the premises and is well cooked and served by friendly staff. There is a wide range of Sunday lunch dishes as well as the normal a la carte menu. I make a point of phoning on the day to book a table because the restaurant does get busy at times, although food is also served in the bar.

I have eaten here several times recently with my husband and children. The menu is varied & extensive the portion sizes are more than ample and everything is very reasonably priced. Most importantly though, the food is delicious. The pub itself has beautiful views, traditional cosy surroundings, clean facilities and helpful friendly staff. The only downside is that it gets extremely busy at weekends so It's probably best to book in advance. I will definately be returning!

A very traditional, very friendly English pub and hotel, serves lots of real ale. Very quiet 17th century building beside 15th century church, vast breakfasts, vast bedrooms. At c 44 bb per room, excellent value.
