very pleasant roomy pub with welcoming staff. Good food reasonably priced. Willing to offer a taster for the beer and also offer three one third pints of 3 beers of your choice

trader carries the tagline: ‘Proper pub, Proper beer, Proper food’. What that stands for is a lovely pub and dining room with lots of original features, a comprehensive drinks menu which includes lots of local ales and a fantastic selection of British bar snacks, small plates and main meals. We booked in advance and ate dinner in the dining room which is upstairs. I had a small plate of roasted squash with blue cheese and walnuts, followed by a (pleasingly pink) venison burger and chips. Both were absolutely brilliant. Others at the table had fresh, crunchy salads to start and enjoyed chicken and leek pies and devilled lamb’s kidneys. The great thing about this place is that the menu accommodates adventurous eaters, as well as those who prefer tasty but less daring British fare. Service was quick and friendly and the price perhaps not cheap, but good value. I’d thoroughly recommend this pub and restaurant and, though I live in London, I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

This is our village pub, and the food served is excellent. Not only that but you get a proper "Northumbrian" helping, instead of fancy plates full of nothing. The atmosphere is very friendly, Carol and her staff cannot do enough for you, and on cold winter days/evenings the open fire is bliss! FANTASTIC FOR SUNDAY LUNCHES and FAMILY/FRIENDS. Can highly recommend.Oh! and our friends had their wedding here, it was one of the best weddings we have ever attended! Enjoy, Helen.

The trader at Langwathby now has new Managers - John and Yvonne. They provide a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in a traditional English pub. The setting couldn't be better - on the village green and park. There are themed nights - Quiz (Sunday), Curry (Thursday) and Pies (Friday).
