Newly restored boozer on Shoreditch High St that couldn't be more 'Shoreditch' if it tried!Exposed brickwork, a mishmash of chairs, menu's on clipboards and muchos shabby chic! I like it very much. The beers good too, and there is plenty of choice. Several beers from the Meantime brewery, including their new lager which is delivered unpasteurised and unfiltered straight out of the impressive looking copper tanks at the bar. Selection wise, expect to find more craft beers on tap, and a decent smattering of real ales. Plenty of bottled beers from around the world also. As you can see from the picture, the garden is humongous! Plenty more quirky seating, and the genius idea of a street food truck serving what looked like especially good 'beer food'. Prices are average for the area - not much change from a tenner for two pints. Service was friendly. Well worth a visit, particularly in summer.

trader is a great wine bar and eatery on Hackney’s trendy Dalston Lane. As you’d expect, it’s an achingly hip-looking place (industrial-esque with flooring reclaimed from a gymnasium) but, thankfully, there’s substance to this place as well as style. It’s an outpost of Borough Wines so, as you’d expect, the wine list doesn’t disappoint and it’s reasonably priced, too. I visited on a Sunday evening and enjoyed confit duck leg served with loads of braised fennel (£12). I had a feisty glass of rioja with the meal and a sweet, dark sherry for dessert – both were brilliant. Note that trader is a wine bar with food, not a restaurant with wine, so the menu’s perhaps a little on the limited side but nonetheless, it’s a lovely place to spend an evening. Bon appétit!

The menu at trader (opp. the Windmill at Mountnessing) includes ample helpings of the "favourites", cooked to a high standard and served by pleasant Staff at acceptable prices. Decor and atmosphere - traditional "pub".

Having never experienced true barbecue across the pond, I can’t comment on the authenticity of the fare at Duke’s Brew & Que. I can, however, say that the pulled pork sliders and seasoned fries I tried were delicious. From the pace at which my friend demolished some super-sticky ribs, I gather they’re also pretty good. Duke’s Brew & Que gets billed as a restaurant and might disappoint if you went with high expectations. I find it’s better thought of as a great pub, which also does better-than-average food. They brew their own (fantastic) ‘Beavertown’ beers here and that alone marks this place out from the competitors. Whether it’ll last beyond London’s current fad for Deep South-style dining remains to be seen but, nonetheless, it’s nice to have a little bit of Americana in Islington.

Chris organised a small family wake. Food was great and reasonable cost. A separate area away from main bar giving privacy was arranged. Very attentive staff.

Great pub with a fine selection of ales. Nice and quiet in the week and more uptempo on the weekend.

Cosy pub that is popular with the people in the area. I've had the Sunday roast twice and been happy with it both times. Nice staff. There is a cosy fireplace in the winter and outdoor seating in the summer.

A super place to grab lunch/dinner in East London - well-made tasty stuff. Also a good place to frequent in the summer for a few beers/ales - an outside area with a multitude of benches on a sunny day is bliss.

A great gem of a pub - has a decent range of beers and ales on tap (including Frulli!) with a lovely laid back atmosphere. Excellent food also - the Sunday roast is quite something. Great to go for a quiet pint or 2, or to spend a Friday night in also. Go, but don't go and tell everyone about it!

This is a great restaurant bar in the middle of Walthamstow village. The food is delicious AND ethically sourced, the staff are really friendly too. It is quite pricey though, so I only go for a treat. I paid £30 for wine, starter, main and I shared a desert with a friend :0

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The upstairs dining room can be booked for private events and has lovely views over Victoria Park. Book a table if you want to eat at the weekend as it gets very busy especially in nice weather.

We went because we had seen good reviews of The Olde Dog on the web, but found the food mediocre and relatively expensive. Perhaps the reviews had raised our expectations too high, but our Sunday lunch was certainly a disappointment. A previous midweek visit had produced better food, but even that hadn't been overwhelming. Maybe we just chose a couple of bad days, but we won't be going back in a hurry.
