We have not been for many years as the place was not maintaining good reviews but recently within the last 3 months it has been taken over by a new private owner, who lives on the premises, and the Sous Chef is now the Top Chef. What a difference, we all had different selections from the excellent lunch me use, a starter, main and dessert menus and non, absolutely non were disappointing. All freshly cooked, delicious and somewhat adventurous for this pub/bistro place and certainly knocked socks off another local celeb chef establishment. Well done all, an excellent meal and very good service. A limited wine list but excellent wines at affordable prices. This establishment is worth a try as you will not be disappointed. The evening menu is differs and they do an extensive steak evening on Thursdays so give it a whirl.

Idyllic pub in tourist North Yorkshire in front of the village green with river bridge and duck pool. Great choice of beers and always very busy. We strayed for D B&B for the offer of £99 in one of the very small newly converted barn into bedrooms. Modern but basic and lacking light and fresh air. Facilities are good. Dinner was disappointing, local produce but spoilt with quantity and basic quality. My belly of pork was good but spoiled with it swimming in onion gravy more akin too up quantity. People stay in the rooms only get a table in the restaurant, more akin to canteen feeling, whereas all other including locals get the lovely snug or the more stylish and atmospheric Linton room. If you wanting to make this a special event forget it, but of you are into basic pub grub and small comfortable room for a one night stay to avoid driving the this will do. Beers are great and they have a good selection, but not a great selection in wines.

A lovely pub on the North Yorkshire Moors with superb views. Excellent lunches - their cheese board is the best I have had.

Stopped off at this pub today after having a morning walk in Skipton and before an afternoon's adventures in the Yorkshire Dales. Looked inviting from the outside and once inside we weren't disappointed. Friendly welcome and some delicious food. Great choice and nothing we had failed to hit the mark. The three of us enjoyed pulled pork sandwich, lamb and mint pie with gravy, and roast beef with yorkshire. The chips were particularly good as was the gravy. And I tried the Hobgoblin draft beer which was equally delightful. Thoroughly recommended.

trader carries the tagline: ‘Proper pub, Proper beer, Proper food’. What that stands for is a lovely pub and dining room with lots of original features, a comprehensive drinks menu which includes lots of local ales and a fantastic selection of British bar snacks, small plates and main meals. We booked in advance and ate dinner in the dining room which is upstairs. I had a small plate of roasted squash with blue cheese and walnuts, followed by a (pleasingly pink) venison burger and chips. Both were absolutely brilliant. Others at the table had fresh, crunchy salads to start and enjoyed chicken and leek pies and devilled lamb’s kidneys. The great thing about this place is that the menu accommodates adventurous eaters, as well as those who prefer tasty but less daring British fare. Service was quick and friendly and the price perhaps not cheap, but good value. I’d thoroughly recommend this pub and restaurant and, though I live in London, I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
