Its a Wetherspoons pub set in a magnificent domed grade 2 listed building which was formerly a gentlemans club! High ceilings good atmosphere and good selection of beers. Average pub food but inexpensive.

We enjoyed delicious food, fine wine and delightful service when we visited for dinner last week. Particularly like the idea that some of the ingredients come from their garden.

We found this very nice pub while stopping off in the area with our caravan that serves meals mid day & evenings. This is a very cosy pub with friendly staff, The meals are extremely good value, good helpings & large choice of menu. The one thing we liked was the roast Beef, Lamb, Turkey, all with vegetables as it makes such a lovely change to be able to have a meal without chips. They carry a good range of local brewed Beers/Cider. Friday is Curry Night, Saturday is Steak night. Booking is recommended as we found it very busy both mid day & evenings. We first visited back in March & there where friendly fires burning in parts of the pub.

What a surprise. A fabulous pub with superior accommodation that comes as a surprise with delicious meals and a service second to none. This quaint pub has had a new accommodation annex block build with taste and style. Our room was the Chinese room that was well furnished in oriental décor and had super facilities. The bar is comfortable and although our table for two was a little small the meal made up for all. I had a Rib Eye of beef that was scrumptious and cooked rare as I wanted it. What a fabulous surprise to find this pub in the little hamlet of Burton. When we stayed the bar was a buzz with people mainly local and the staff were friendly and efficient. The owners have got the ambiance, service and food exactly right. I will be back.

Arrived on first floor restaurant just adjacent to the Railway and Bus stations and what a surprise! This was an experience, a lively place for locals, who either wanted to meet friends in the bar section of the restaurant beside the Micro Brewery - yes they make their own beers as well, and couples and groups enjoying wonderful food in the brasserie section. Food was fabulous - the well hung rare ribeye steak was succulent and their wines were very reasonable. Fabulous selection of steaks, meat, fish and lighter meals and all were mouth-wateringly tempting. A lively social place for locals, informal but the service was outstanding. Highly recommended.

We had our wedding breakfast here in May 2010 for only 9 people. We had help to select our menu and our ideas were advised upon. We wanted a small separate dining room so that our party would not be "lost" in a large room. The result was just what we wanted. The food was well presented, delicious and enjoyed by everyone. We were served attentively and the room and table looked beautiful. In addition the George is a very pleasant building in a beautiful location close to the moated castle ruin and the village pond - ideal for photos. I thoroughly recommend trader for anyone having a small wedding celebration or wanting to have good food in lovely surroundings. The prices were in line with those quoted by other establishments in the area.

trader looks like a pub, feels like a pub but the food is more resturant quality - simply amazing. Its strange to find somewhere producing such good food outside Bristol. The staff are welcoming, friendly and polite. The menu is not large as everything is fresh and we were told changes on a regular basis. You get a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 puddings so there is a risk you might not find something you like. However I had no problems. My wife who is a veggie but usually expects limited choice. There was only one veggie option on starter and main but it was lovely and special (not out of a box like some many other places). We've been there a couple of times - mid week and on Sunday. If dining on a Friday or Saturday it could be expensive but we took up the two courses for £20 offered in the week. Enjoy.
