John Brindley carried out full survey on the house late last year (2015), and I found him to be very knowledgeable about the type and history of this property and others in the area, being local to him. He looked into every part of the house, garden, and garage, commenting on his observations as we went, and made some verbal recommendations as to potential for improvement and upgrading if I wished to sell it. He was friendly as well as efficient and I received a short interim report in only a few days, with a full bound copy just over a week later complete with prints and a DVD of his photographs. It was all done in a professional yet very friendly manner at a very reasonable cost. Thoroughly recommended.

We were really pleased with the speed, quality, and price of the survey and valuation report from this company (of a house that we are buying). Additionally, the admin support was amazing. Would recommend highly and would use again.

Used this photographer to take some family portraits. To say she was excellent is an understatement. The quality of her work is superb and she is very friendly and easy to communicate with. our party included a 2 year old and a five year old and she was brilliant in getting them to pose for wonderful photographs. I can frully understand why she is an award winning photographer. Fully recommended.

We used Roberts & Roberts after searching for a a surveyor that wasn't going to charge a fortune for a full structural survey. Initially contact with Roberts & Roberts was good. The surveyor was personally texting me to work out the details for the job, the job was scheduled for a date and then carried out. After this point it was hard to get in contact with the surveyor himself, I was always directed towards his office. Once we got the results the survey was reasonable, lack of images as we have experienced before, and a lot of references to get further surveys done. Getting subsequent after-care was more difficult, we needed to talk over certain details for re-negotiating on a house price, they were however polite about our constant badgering. Service could have been better but Roberts & Roberts charged a very competitive price that might not be beaten. I would most likely try a different surveyor next time based on this experience.

I have used Ford Banks Irwin on several occasions and am currently employing their services again to buy a grade 2 listed property. This firm is a brilliant example of how conveyancing should be done, if only more solicitors would follow their lead. I have always dealt with the same solicitor, Mr Hussain who at all times has been courteous, attentive and easy to contact. He has gone out of his way to give advice on problematic technical issues. They are competitive and definitely good value for money. I would definitely recommend Ford Banks Irwin to anyone wanting a conveyancing solicitor and will be using their services again.

We are purchasing a Victorian house and asked trader to carry out a survey. The survey was arranged within about 10 days and Mr Brindley arrived very promptly. The report and CD with photographs were received within a few days after. The survey was very thorough and Mr Brindley included a lot of extra information that was helpful to us in understanding the condition of the property and what work would be necessary. The report was very easy to read and Mr Brindley was very helpful when we spoke to him over the phone with a small query. The only small downside was that the flash on his camera was not working that day so we didn't have pictures inside the loft space. That aside, the work was very thorough and I would highly recommend trader .

Glenn Ombler advised us and designed a kitchen extension for us, built in early 2013. We had a very good discussion with him about options, and he produced a well detailed specification for our choice. We used this specification for builders to quote against. Glenn also helped us with the planning application, structural engineer and building inspection requirements. We were very pleased with his customer friendly attitude and service and are delighted with our new kitchen!

Based on a personal recommendation we asked Gail Carberry at Chafes to do the conveyancing work for our move from Birmingham to Cheshire. We were quoted a competitive fixed fee for the work. As often happens with a chain, there were problems with some of the parties and their advisors. In particular, our vendor’s solicitor was extremely dilatory, unresponsive and incompetent throughout the process. This resulted in significant delays and substantial additional work for everyone. Despite this, Chafes stuck to their original figure although we were quite prepared to pay more. Throughout the process Gail was extremely proactive and efficient; without Gail’s efforts we are quite sure that the chain would have broken irreparably. Equally importantly, given the problems encountered, she (and her secretary Julie) were consistently reassuring and helpful. This was our sixth move and these have brought us into contact with many solicitors over the years. Gail was far and away the best we have ever had dealings with and we have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her. Based on our highly satisfactory experience with the conveyancing we asked Chafes to rewrite our Wills. This was looked after by Robert Brindley. Again this was done very professionally and efficiently. Robert explained our options very clearly and once we had decided what we wanted, the Wills were drawn up very efficiently with clear and concise wording. Again this was done on a very reasonable fixed cost basis.

We used Maureen for the sale of our house and purchase of a new one. Her staff were a pleasure to deal with, really friendly and seemed to genuinely care about our sale/purchase. Maureen was incredibly tenacious and diligent when dealing with our vendors' solicitor, who provided inadequate responses on more than one occasion, and would not give up until she was satisfied with the information she got back. We felt she put a lot of work in for the money we paid and would recommend this firm.

We asked Paul to help us with the renovation of an ex-Council police house semi with the brief to turn our dilapidated “sow’s ear” into a “silk purse” by adding extensions to the property and completely renovating the existing to make an energy efficient home. He produced ideas and drawings that really impressed us. Paul has seen the project through from its conception to the end. Briefly including: design, production of detailed drawings, applying for planning and building regulation approval, invitation to tender, tender analysis, drawing up the building contract, appointing our chosen builder monitoring the work, liaising with the builder through each and every stage, and much more! As well as Paul having extensive and detailed knowledge of buildings, building regulations and planning requirements, we consider him to be a magnificent architect in his designs. Having met with us a few times to ascertain what it was we wanted from the new home, he produced a design that almost took our breath away! We decided there and then to go with the external look he proposed, without him having to ‘tweak’ it in any way. He then spent many hours helping us to get the internal layout and proportions just right, before submission to planning. We cannot praise him enough. His work and work rate on our behalf has always been totally professional and extensive. He has gone the extra mile for us many, many times and our questions (we’ve had hundreds!) are always speedily answered. We would recommend to any potential client that they don’t just appoint Paul up to planning stage but for the whole project. We have, and Paul has guided us through many difficult and potentially problematic stages of the whole project, undoubtedly preserving our sanity in the process. His work can be summed up in one word; outstanding.

Steve came to try to rectify an ongoing problem with very poor reception via my Freeview ariel that another Which Local recommended installer had failed to remedy on 2 previous visits. Unlike the other installer (Cheadle Hulme Aerials), Steve was able to advise that, due to my location, (in a dip and with lots of high trees nearby) I would not get a decent Freeview signal. We discussed other options, and I decided on Freesat. Steve came very promptly, on time, and installed a satelite dish, dual wiring and a Freesat HD combined set-top box and recorder. He worked quickly and efficiently and made no mess at all. Excellent advice, good service, and very reasonable charges.
