We had seen examples of the finish of Rod Ashton's work on nearby properties and chose him to fit a glass roof to our conservatory and a major kitchen refit and we were very pleased with the results. Rod wanted us to be satisfied with the service he is provided and discussed every part of the project with us in detail. We would be happy to use him again and would recommend him.

Having decided to do a full bathroom refit, I've recently been on the rounds of showrooms, checking quality, price, etc. In the end I used a small family-owned local supplier called trader , and was so impressed by the quality and value-for-money and sheer excellence of their friendly, knowledgeable service that I felt I must write this review. For example, the shower-bath I bought carried a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer (Balterley), was sleek and beautiful, and of a quality that equalled or bettered baths I'd seen at double or even treble the price. The staff were full of excellent advice. They'd supplied custom-made high gloss doors to my spec for the airing cupboard, and when I said I intended to fit these myself (I'm an avid DIY-er) they explained to me how proper kitchen-style concealed cup hinges were the best thing to use, then GAVE me the hinges, made me a special template to control the position of the drill for the cup-holes, then even lent me the special drill I would need! Their showroom is small but select, and full of excellent quality, keenly priced kitchen and bathroom displays. I found them a pleasure to deal with and can unhesitatingly recommend them.

We had a damaged corner unit mechanism some 4 years after installation - either cuased by ourselves or by an item getting jammed or a faulty menchanism. This had caused a serious misalignment of the corner unit door. Without fuss or hassle, the new owner immediately sent a fitter to inspect and report back. The owner also came to inspect, agree the work and timescale as we were about to go on holidays. All was repaired to their exacting standards and the workmen were clean, tidy and polite. Again a pleasure to have the kitchen back to original condition. Excellent service by quality and experienced kitchen installers.

I employed Mr Maguire to strip, render and pebbledash the walls of an outhouse. He waited for the suitable weather conditions before doing the preparatory work, and similarly before finishing the job some three weeks later. He wastes no time in getting the job done, and has produced excellent results, at what I consider to be a good price. Prompt, friendly and extremely efficient. An altogether pleasant and trouble-free experience.

We collected four quotations for a kitchen refurbishment, mainly for new cupboard doors and drawer-fronts, new in-built cooker and extractor hood. trader quoted in good time and at the best price for our specification. Their fitter was diligent, helpful and accommodating. We are satisfied with the result and would recommend trader for kitchen refurbishment.

We were very pleased with Milestone who supplied and fitted our kitchen a year ago to a high standard - Charlotte or Jan in the shop arranges a home visit by Julian who is the main man. He will be the one doing the work so you're not discussing with a salesman or middleman, and he has all the skills required including fitting a beautiful oak floor. He is keen on eco approaches and was happy to re-use our existing units. Our only major disappointment was the Gorenje oven - not self-cleaning, grill pans warp, shelf design not good.

We originally got a quote for a John Lewis Kitchen. However, when we visited trader we found the range of kitchens very extensive and the sales person very helpful without being pushy. Compared to the John Lewis option I would say that we got about 20% more Kitchen for about 20% less cost, and the quality is really good. trader were also much more flexible and willing to do things that JL wouldn't - such as pastering the ceiling, putting in a new radiator. We had one or two snags along the way (you usually do with a big job like a fully fitted kitchen), but the fitters were always ready to come back and make changes / fix problems without any hesitation. Highly recommended.
