Our local licensed Italian! A very busy eat in - carry out establishment - Not just Pizza and Pasta, but a display lots of wonderful bruchettas/salady snacks and cakes to die for! We indulge and then walk home to make us feel less guilty! You can sit outside on sunny days. This is close to the Freeman's Hospital and no doubt many staff use this great place regularly. Sadly only open until 6:00 p.m. as it is a residential area.

Sunderland has a lot of Italian restaurant, most of the cheap and cheerful but not particularly memorable variety. Amore stands head and shoulders above the rest, with the quality of its food and wine. You pay a bit more, but it is so worth it. The restaurant is excellent. It can get noisy at times, as it is large and hence popular for birthday meals, but the staff are always friendly and the food blissful. I have visited frequently, though not as often as I could wish!

A very friendly family run Italian Restaurant. The service is excellent and the food and wine are reasonably priced. The sort of place that remembers you the next time you go. it can get busy on occasion but any wait is well worth while.

Extremely friendly experience, welcoming to children a range of prices with a fantastic peasants supper (various dishes at £5/main meal), focus on rustic cooking and good quality basic stuff (pasta) as well as more meaty rustic stuff. Great bread; its a hidden treasure.

Weve been coming for trader (formerly zonzos) for years and its consistantly our favourite restaurant in the area. Italian owned and run its a great neighbourood restraurant for a relaxed eveing meal. Not your usual italian (until onyl recently it didnt serve pizza) it sells rustic italian dishes from a standard menu but with a regularly changing specials menu projected onto the wall. The food is great and the service is excellent. Loads of local free parking its better than going into town

Pleasant local small Italian cafe with good quality food, good value for money. Not licensed (bring your own wine) and unpretentious. Cheerful and friendly staff.

If you want to have a relaxing meal, served quickly by pleasant staff then this is the place for you. Although the restaurant was busy, service was quick, aided by all stff members watching all the tables. The menu is basically Italian, though some of the items have local influence, and some are really unusual, but delicious. Two tests of a good restaurant - are the plates hot, and can they serve duck properly. trader 's scores on both counts; the duck was perfect - succulent and just the right amout of red, and the plates remained hot throughout eating the main course. Downsides - excellent fresh vegetables, but rather a lot! and the pheasant was a little overdone and dry. However - fours and a half stars for an excellent restaurant.
