I pray they never retire!!
We take friends to see them when they visit the area as it's a wonderland ,as long as you keep moving in an orderly clockwise direction!

Shop selling tools - this shop has most items in the Draper catalogue in stock. I needed a tap reseating tool to fix a dripping tap and Bingo! Really good service.

Very knowledgeable and experienced, good value car batteries with free quick immediate fitting.

They are friendly and helpful, giving advice on repair if possible rather than replacing with new. They stock all sorts, selling in small quantities if required and also sell good quality perennials and shrubs, compost etc.

Great place to find any kind of hardware, garden or bicycle supplies. Old-fashioned personal service, they will go out of their way to find you just the right thing for the job you want to do. Great value too - beats the big chains every time.

I live in the villages as a householder with a considerable spread. My DIY demands are considerable to the extend that I have a monthly account at
DD Hardware. This shop has just about everything and I cannot remember when I last went to one of the big boys. Prices as good and cheaper.

An amazing range of items, with staff who understand what you want - and then find it for you

What can I add that has not already been said about Torry's. I've been shopping there for years. If they don't have in stock what I want they will order it and call me when it arrives. Brilliant shop and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Unbeatable. Keep supporting Torry's and shop there.

A small customer-orientated hardware store where you can talk to staff who actually understand the tools and work and give good advice on selection and tips on the job you're trying to do. ('What is a wire stripper?' was the response in a major chainstore earlier this year, when I asked where to find one). S&L has everything you'd expect (all the sizes and types of fiddly screws you can buy in small quantities to replace that missing old one, power tools) and usually a bit more - quality bike accessories such as mudguards and high visibility gear, and an impressive seasonal stock of fairy lights. Long may it continue.

Very helpful, friendly staff with amazing range of goods

I'm lucky enough to have this shop on my doorstep, so have used it for over a decade. trader has a good reputation all over Oxford - when I say where I live, people say, "ah,that's where that shop is! It isn't just that they have such a huge range of tools, parts, bits and pieces, but that they're always well-staffed with knowledgeable, friendly assistants who give helpful advice, and never make you feel stupid for asking a silly question. Prices can be a tiny bit higher for things like tools - specially compared to the internet - but are generally reasonable. Anyway, it's worth paying a little more for the added value trader provide.
