I asked for an estimate for the following work:- Stone wall adjacent to pavement joints pointed. Front garden walls to mould new copes and fit. Walls to apply cement/granite chip dry dash finish. Strip and repair brick gate posts and finish as walls. The quote was competitive and work schedule to my satisfaction. There was a delay in starting due to adverse weather conditions. The work was carried out in an efficient and professional manner and the site left thoroughly clean. I highly recommend K. Shepherd & Son to carry out any maintenance and improvements

Excellent service and a very high quality of workmanship. The redesign that Ebax conceived for part of our fitted kitchen was really ingenious and the quality of the workmanship was superb. I would not hesitate to recommend their work to others.

Having read the first review,we asked for an estimate for repair work needed before the cavity wall insulation we were expecting could be done. This involved anchoring wall blocks at both loft gable ends and filling large cavities left when the building was done 15 years ago. There was also mortaring done on an outside wall above the conservatory roof. Ken's quote was competitive, the work was done in a day to our satisfaction. He came to do the work promptly so that we could recall the insulation people.

We've just used Kenny to do major renovations to a traditional ground floor tenement in Inverleith and he was one of the best tradesmen I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I work for an architecture firm and deal with builders/contractors on a regular basis. These are normally quite large projects and therefore I had to find a local builder who could be trusted to be reasonably affordable, reliable, quick and who could provide a high quality finish... asking the impossible in my experience! He also had to be willing to work around me doing part of the work as I was trying to keep costs down. This entailed a lot of co-ordination by me to make sure things were in place when they needed to be - never expect a builder to co-ordinate the construction unless you're paying them to do it. Kenny not only came in as one of the best value but has also proven to have all the qualities I was looking for... not an easy feat for someone as particular as myself. Happy to work around me, offer me advice on the work I was doing and generally accommodate me with all my requests and changes. We had a structural wall removed and steel work inserted to create a large kitchen/diner and re-model a bathroom removing the water tank etc. During this we re-plumbed and re-wired the whole flat. I used structural engineers that I normally use through my work and Kenny worked very well with them. The quality of workmanship was second to none and he was ultra safe when supporting the walls. We also used Kenny to plaster the kitchen and bathroom which was like a 'glass' finish. Very smooth with no cracking and possibly one of the best plastering finishes I've seen. Probably a bit slower at plastering than others but I can't express just how good the finish is! His son Matthew and himself work well together and come with a network of other high quality tradesmen (steel fabricators, plumbers, plasterers, electricians, tillers etc.) which if required can be called on very quickly. This saved me time and money! We used his contacts for steel (John Jordan Steel Fabricators) who also proved to be good value and reliable. We'd highly recommend K. Shepherd & Son to anyone.

I am on the board of a local housing charity and have used this 'firm' (actually a one-man operation) for over a year. In that time he has proved helpful, reliable, punctual, extremely competent and reasonably priced. So far he has effected plumbing repairs (washers, replaced radiators & cistern), paintwork (gutters and downpipes), gutter repairs and plastering repairs.
