This was our first visit to the Laird's House following it's renaissance under new management. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed our previous visits, we much preferred the more relaxed atmosphere in the place on this occasion. The menu seems to be rather more extensive than before. We both ate from the 3 course fixed price lunch menu, which gave exceptionally good value for money. Each course we had was well pesented, well cooked and generous. The bread and butter pudding was truly the lightest one I have ever tasted. You could almost swear there were no calories in it.......... The wine was good and reasonably priced. We had to ask for water, but that was hardly a hardship. I do hope that more folk discover the place as the large open space cries out for lots of diners to provide more of an atmosphere. The chap in charge was excellent at jollying us all along - he must be exhausted by the end of the day. All in all a really positive experience and I think we will return often both for casual coffees (and scones!)and meals. .

They have delicious, freshly baked croissants - of various kinds, rolls and bread. They are always very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Excellent source of organic food: vegetables, cheeses, dairy produce, bread, flour etc. A bit pricy but worthy of support and a welcome addition to the Portobello shopping scene.

The range of products is good, but I have found items are frequently out-of-date and I found the whole shop to be very grubby. I think that prices are also high, even for a independent shop.

Like many other people in this neighbourhood, I depend on this small greengrocer. It is full of fresh produce, both standard conventional fare, but also lots of adventurous, experimental items, much of it cheaper or as cheap as that in the supermarkets. In addition the proprietors are always helpful and cheerful. I go there several times a week and it's always a pleasure.

A family run local store serving a mixed age community, a large part of whom are elderly. A young staff, who always have a friendly word and never rush a customer, especially if they are elderly - despite there being a large queue! The sort of store that still gives the personal touch to its customers.
