Gorgeous fresh fruit and veg. And the pork pies and Scotch eggs are wonderful. Quails eggs too. And fresh orange juice. But not a posh shop - just an excellent, fairly priced greengrocer.

The prices for fruit and vegetables in this store are as low as they reasonably can be. They peg them to the wholesale price they pay at the time, so you will find them cheaper at some times than at others. The owner-manager is quite open about it that if you're after grade 1 produce all the time, his store isn't the place. But when you do get it there, it will be at grade II or grad III prices. I regularly buy tomatoes suitable for cooking at 19p or 29p a pound there (the 29p ones are acceptable raw), peppers are very reasonable too, and sometimes there will be fantastic bargains (I once got perfectly acceptable russets at 39p/lb). The cashiers are helpful and scrupulously honest. And when it comes to courtesy when they want to carry things past you, etc., they are on a par with Sainsbury's, although far harder pressed. Between them and the two stalls in the centre of the Wood Green HIgh Road, I get the best deals in fruit and vegetables I know of.

I have been buying my fruit and veg from Mick for a few years now and his produce is always consistently good and the choice excellent. The good banter also helps!

A rare find to have a traditional fruit and veg shop. Really great produce, brilliant service. I have been shopping here for years and I hope the large companies dont push out our star community shop.

The best local grocer in London, always has what is in season. At least five different varieties of tomatoes and mushrooms. If it's not there he will get it. It's like having a wholes market instead of a corner shop. They are so good the queue in the evening runs around the shop!

The shop has had new owners for some two years now, and there has been a vast improvement.  The owner is very hardworking and the shop is fantastic.

I buy meat and groceries from trader and they are very good. The meat is from the Ginger Pig, Bread from Old Post Office. Greencrocery is very expensive compared to the market stalls outside, but good quality. They also have a great basement with storcupboard things and good wine.

trader also sells marinated meats, fish and poultry ready to cook at home; a wide selection of Indian spices and chappathis; a fantastic choice of Middle Eastern pastries, dips, salads and olives. The staff are helpful and willing to discuss the differences among various brands. trader also keeps helpful hours for working people.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of seasonal produce which is wider and more interesting than the local supermarket. Sometimes not the cheapest on the High Street but a great local business well worth supporting.
