Called the Floor Doctor after a leading department store had declined to fit new vinyl because the underfloor was not satisfactory. Floor Doctor fixed the underfloor and laid vinyl at a reasonable price. Very pleased with the result.

I can't recommend this family run business enough! Paul the son is the salesman and was helpful when looking for an oak engineered floor (Berry Oak Wood flooring) for my flat, and lino for bathrooms. Consistently avoided giving me the hard sell (suggesting I could do a couple of rooms now and the rest later if it was more convenient) and was patient answering questions. The father Peter came out to measure - on time, and again, very helpful. Joiner Stephen who laid the wood floor did a fantastic job - attention to detail, really neat, genuinely nice guy and went out of his way several times (for example, my mum was in flat one day and her broken arm was giving her pain and so he offered to get painkillers from supermarket for her). Really happy with the end result and would have no hesitation recommending. In fact, twice when I was in the shop other customers were thanking the team and proactively offering to provide written recommendations (how often do you see that??!), so they seem to have several happy customers! Price seemed competitive versus couple of other quotes I got and flooring was good quality.

We've used Richard's services three times now to sand and varnish our floors and have been pleased every time. Every person to whom we've recommended him has also been glowing in their praise. He's hard working, polite and professional and, most of all, does a superb job for a fair price.

Friendly and obliging service. I have used them on various occasions over the past 9 years. As I am now alone the fitters have come in to help move furniture and roll up carpets in preparation for other work, even when no new carpeting was purchased.

I should start by saying that we got the correct carpet delivered and fitted, and we're very pleased with the end result. However, getting to that point wasn't particularly easy. They came to measure up in the morning, but when we visited the showroom that afternoon, they didn't yet have the measurements, and had difficulty contacting the staff member who had done the measuring. Once that was sorted, their recommendations on flooring were first class, and not sales-pushy at all. However, they could not deliver and fit the carpet on the same day (later the same week) - which for us meant taking two days working from home. On day 1, they delivered the wrong carpet. They were friendly and apologetic about it, and delivered the correct carpet later that afternoon. J&W do not fit the carpets themselves, but recommend and book fitters for you. On day 2, somehow our booking got lost, and only through our own chasing the issue did this get resolved. But to be fair, it did get resolved, and the outcome was all to plan - time, budget and end result. Would I use them again? Yes, probably, but I would pay the same attention to make sure it all happens correctly.
