Car repairs, servicing, MOTs & garages near Potters Bar, Hertfordshire

I have used the potters bar branch of trader on 2 occasions and both times have come away very pleased. They have changed my brake pads and also done my MOT and service. They are very professional and the price has always been reasonable. Ill definately be going back.

6 good reviews, had to give them a try - Full annual service, MOT - also mentioned small persistent problem = stalling at low speed when braking, which 2 previous garages have failed to identify, let alone solve. After 18 days looks like problem solved! Staff helpful, courteous and informative

I only discovered Whitmans two years ago: it's not easy to find as it's tucked away behind an angling shop near the top of Reservoir Rd N14. But what a gem of a find it was! Whitmans comprises two brothers, Steve and Paul, who have serviced my car for the last two years. They provide a straightforward, thorough service at a fair price (less than half a main dealer's rate). I'm not a mechanic but I do understand cars and I believe they do a thorough service. They will point out any important repairs required but don't do any unnecessary work: I trust their advice. They never do additional work without phoning first. They are very clear about what they're charging for and they provide an incredibly detailed, handwritten invoice that is in effect a condition report on your car, listing points of note such as potential future problems, state of brake and clutch wear, etc. You always deal direct with the mechanics and so you get a first hand report on your car. If you drop in with a minor problem, the chances are they'll look at it there and then. I'm really impressed and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I went here for an exhaust problem, staff were friendly and helpful and I was seen very promptly. I am always suspicious that I may be told of lots of extra work needed........the opposite was true here and I have no hesitation in fully recommending this centre. I will be happy to return.

my clutch pedal went on the forecourt of chase side Texaco petrol station on jubilee Friday :(i had seen the garage there but thought I'd log-in to which and get some local reviews and to my surprise and convinces trader came up so i booked in with them and was very happy with the service and honesty, as i was expecting pain with the words "your master cylinder and clutch pedal need replacing".... parts and labour.....£242...... my first thought was Result! Thanks Which community i found myself a trustworthy mechanic at last and Thank You trader 10/10

Follow up Review: Really user friendly--you feel Tony knows your car and wants you to enjoy driving it. On the practical side, when it needs service /repair, if i drive to the garage i am always taken home[or other destination]. When the car is ready it will be returned to me at home. If i do have to wait at the garage there is always coffee and chat available. Small jobs are willingly done-on the spot -at no charge eg last month the front of my car was badly "wounded" because i had mounted a pavement when reversing and ripped the front nearly off. I took the car to trader and had to leave it with him--I was not home at the end of the afternoon , but returned to find my car in my drive, damage repaired. i think they were able to push it together--and they made no charge. Tony is equally good to his staff who work happily for him. One lunch hour i had called in to ask Tony to check my tyres--while there it started to rain heavily; i was having a coffee while one of the lads did my tyres and heard Tony on the phone asking Louise, [who worked in the office] where she had gone for lunch, because it was raining and he'd come and pick her up. No wonder it's a happy place for both staff and customers

Have used them several times now, for service and MOT and have found them to be reliable and trustworthy. They always try to help out if they can and even offered to come to my house when my battery was flat (although I do only live 4 or 5 roads away from them, but was still nice to offer).

Liam is a mobile mecanic, so when i had trouble with my car I made a call and liam came to me fixing the car on site and at a very good price. I am very wary of mecanics but Liam was exellent. I would recommend him to anyone. A good, honest mecanic is what all motorists need.

I've used trader for two years since buying a Mercedes car and have found them to be honest and trustworthy. Also good value for money. Always happy to find an easy solution to a problem. Highly recommend them.

Always friendly, helpful and go out of their way to assist - I broke down in a busy road and within minutes they came to try and repair but had to get their low loader to take me to their workshop. All this was on a very busy day for them - I was so grateful.
