Mechanics from garages recommended on Which? Local made the grand final of Top Technician 2010.
Technicians at Complete Car Maintenance, Surrey
Complete Car Maintenance in Surrey and John Tinham Motor Engineer in Chelmsford, Essex have already both been given a 5-star rating by Which? Local users.
Now Stuart White of the Surrey firm and Chelmsford's John Tinham have successfully completed a series of intense repair tasks designed by the Institute of the Motor Industry.
A panel of eagle-eyed top technical judges scrutinised their work and put Stuart and John through to the Top Technician grand final at the Honda institute in Slough.
Stuart told Which? Local: "I am looking forward to the final. The Top Tech comp gives me the opportunity to test myself and learn. I will be nervous on the day but I enjoy meeting and competing against technicians who are among the best in the country. Technology in this industry is so complicated, varied and rapidly changing that you have to take every opportunity to learn. Winning would be fantastic after being runner up several times."
*Update: At Birmingham's NEC, car pro and Daily Telegraph motoring columnist Honest John announced that Stuart White is the 2010 Top Technician! Congratulations Stuart.*
The Top Technician competition was set up in 2003 to recognise and reward the best vehicle technicians in the UK.
