Kitchen fitting jobs: trader tips

Research methodology

In July 2012, we sent a survey to all Which? Local traders in the Kitchen showrooms and fitters category with a rating of three stars or more and an email address.

34 kitchen fitters responded to the survey. Using their experience and expertise, they answered questions about the cost of popular kitchen fitting jobs, and how long they should take to complete.

Installing a kitchen
Many companies sell kitchens and offer fitting too but, as kitchens can range from a few hundred to tens of thousands of pounds, we asked traders to quote for fitting only. Simply add the cost of your chosen kitchen to this cost.

Job: replacing kitchen cupboard doors

If your cupboards are sound, and offer the right amount of storage space, you can save cash and transform your kitchen simply by replacing the doors.

Most traders will charge extra to dispose of old doors. They either need to hire a skip or pay business rates for waste disposal. You might be able to save cash if you can dispose of them yourself.
